First Days and Earthquake

I've arrived in Dubai, don't think I've forgotten about this blog ;) I'm still here and alive may I add. I haven't done anything special so far, just trying to get my head around the fact that I'm in Dubai now. I miss home very much, it suddenly dawned on me that I'm away from home. I know I may sound as a little child who has, for the first time, been separated from its parents (I kind of feel that way too, haha), but I really miss home and everyone. It sure is another life here, everything is different.
I need to take a tour around the city, starting with the map, to figure this town out. Yeah, all you who know me, knows that's practically impossible for me! So just think how lost I feel here *LOL*
It's still very very warm, around 45 C during the days, feels like being in a sauna. And it's Ramadan now, which means no eating or drinking during the days. Now imagine being out in 45C without water, hm, luckily we don't go out so much during the days.
As you can probably figure out by now, I'm not good with big changes, especially changes like these. This is very difficult for me and I need time to get use to here. However, I still am glad I took this chance.
Anyway, something very scary happend today here. My sister and her family lives on the tenth floor, and me, her, her two children and the maid were home, when suddenly we felt the building start shaking, and I mean Shaking! My first thought was that I was dizzy, then I realised, no, it's not me, it's actually the building! As soon as I realised that my sister came running and just screamed that we had to run down. Somehow, in the middle of all of this, I took our bags with me (I later could not remember that I had taken my sisters bag) and we started running down the stairs, barefeet, the children with only a top and underwear. Of course there was no light either, none of the lamps in the staircase worked, so we ran down 10 floors in total darkness, those ten floors felt like forever, they never ended. We just ran out and away from the building. Luckily, the keys to the car was in my sisters bag so we got in the car and went and picked up her husband. As my sister talked to her husband we found out they had felt the shaking as well. Finally, after several calls to my dad, mother and so we found out that there had been an earthquake in Iran, not far away from Dubai and that's why everything moved.
Well...by then I was ready to go home, barefeet and everything *LOL* Hey, I'm not much for excitement like this! You can count on that!
So this was my scary day, I hope this was the first and the last! Now the operation of getting us moved from this building will start ;)

Hopefully I will be able to start photographing around here so I can post them here. That's my mission with this blog.
I need to eat now and then sleep, I really need the rest after today.
